Jama Masjid Delhi is a mosque situated in Connaught Place, Delhi. It features a black and white marble floor and 899 bordered spaces for worshipers. The interiors of the mosque are decorated with floral motifs and opulent arches. One of its most prominent features is an archway adorned with the words ‘The Guide’. It houses significant relics including a copy of the Quran written on a deerskin, a pair of Prophet Mohammed’s footwear, and footprints on a marble block.

The Jama Masjid is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest mosque in India. Shah Jahan requested for its construction in 1650 and it was completed a year later in 1656. The mosque can accommodate up to 25,000 worshipers during a single prayer.

The Jama Masjid is open all seven days of the week. However, tourists are not allowed to enter the mosque during prayer hours. The mosque is accessible via Metro Stations on the Yellow and Heritage Lines. The nearest metro stations are Chawri Bazaar and Jama Masjid. For entry, visitors should remove their shoes before entering the mosque. Moreover, they should dress conservatively. Women should cover their shoulders, legs, and head. Visitors should wear a traditional outfit.

The Jama Masjid is considered one of the holiest places in Delhi. The mosque was constructed in six years by over 6000 workers and has four 40-meter-high minarets. Its courtyard is 75 metres by 66 meters and contains 260 pillars. It is open on weekends and has a capacity of 25,000 people.

Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal ruler of India, was responsible for the construction of Jama Masjid. He commissioned it as the centre of the city. It cost a million rupees and five thousand men worked on the construction. It was inaugurated in 1656 by the Bukhari Imam.
